A before and after comparison of our Airbrush Retouch services performed on Serge Kabonge’s professional portrait shots.

Model: Serge Kabonge

Location: SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills

Photographer: Our very own Lead Photographer Dumisani Maraire Jr. captured these images on location at the SLS Hotel @ Beverly Hills using Canon’s SL1 camera with the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens.

Lighting: For lighting we went with a single 18-inch ring light at a 45 degree angle complimented by Canon’s Speedlite 600 EX II-RT Flash mounted directly on the camera topped with a splash of Philippe Starck’s  ambient lighting courtesy of the SLS Hotel.

Before Edit: The ‘Before’ edit recieved our Basic Color Grading service where the raw image is balanced for Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows, Texture and some basic noise reduction and image sharpening. The first image (on the left) is cropped in accordance with the golden spiral and second image (on the right) is cropped in accordance with the rule of thirds.

After Edit: For the ‘After’ edit we applied our Airbrush Retouch service which further reduces noise and blemishes using frequency separation techniques, jpeg artifact removal and overall tone adjustment. Custom detailing included sharpening, brightening and darkening specific focal points of the image, while simultaneously narrowing the depth of field. The image was then dusted off with a light glow to really make it shine.
